Dr. Rebekah Shirley is an environmental leader, researcher, adviser, and speaker, with more than twenty years of international experience advancing solutions for sustainability. As Executive Director for Africa at the World Resources Institute, Rebekah strengthens research capacities and helps build powerful local and global multi-stakeholder coalitions that deliver inclusive, sustainable change through collaboration and data-driven decision-making. Her technical emphasis is in power systems modeling to support clean energy expansion in emerging markets. American born, Caribbean raised, and now growing her family in East Africa, Rebekah brings a global perspective to this work and enjoys exploring the role of society and culture in shaping creative solutions that last. Rebekah is passionate about climate education, science communication, and student mentoring.
